2021 has been filled with fiery sneaker releases, from unexpected collaborations to the return of Original sneakers. Therefore, picking the top 10 best is quite tricky, but after comparing what others considered to be their top ten, we were able to sift through the common ones. Let us look at our top 10 best sneakers in 2021, not listed in any particular order.
Jordan 4 Retro University
First on our top ten best sneakers in 2021, so far, is the Jordan 4 Retro University. The inspiration behind these sneakers is Michael Jordan’s UNC alma mater. This shoe was one of the most anticipated releases, and as expected, it did not disappoint. It is preponderantly suede, with blue and grey colourway, the Jumpman logo is seen at back of the shoe in black. “StockX market data reveals a 52-week high selling point of $1040 that averages out at $566. If these numbers are anything to go by, the Jordan 4 University Blue is already in good stead to secure a place in the hall of fame,” stated Alek Rose from Highsnobiety.
Air Jordan 4 “Taupe Haze”
The Taupe Haze is very similar to the Travis Scott F&F colourways. This sneaker material is mostly suede, a shiny looking suede, which is an eye-catching feature. It has black accents, and the Jumpman logo is in a bright red. Travis Scott fans mostly appreciate this shoe because it is an affordable pair that resembles most of Travis’s colourways. These were released in February 2021.
A Ma Maniere x Air Jordan 3 “Raised by Women”
These sneakers were released in May, 2021 and were designed by James Whitner. His inspiration came from his mother who bought him his first pair of Air Jordan 3. Although it was assumed by most that James released the shoe in celebration of Women’s History Month, when that wasn’t really the case but since it seemed that way, they went with it. James and his team planned out to design a shoe that women will fall in love with. Above all, it was also suppose to be a shoe that men will want to wear too and they “nailed” it. The sneaker has inspirational writings at the back of the sneakers heel and on the shoelaces.
New Balance 991 x Patta
Patta was founded by Edson Sabajo in 2004. He is a Dutch sneakers boutique located in Amsterdam. He partnered with New Balance on a 991, twenty years after the New Balance 991 original debut. These sneakers feature a light pink suede with peach and grey seen in some areas. “Patta”, is seen in white, embroidered on the back side of the shoe and the midsole is in cream white and white.
The Converse x GOLF WANG Chuck 70
You can not have a top 10 sneakers list with the ever so popular Chucks. These were released in July, 2021. Tyler, the Creator, collaborated with Converse once more and they produced a fiery pair of Chuck 70’s. These sneakers feature a cream white upper, a white sole with hints of pink. This is Tyler’s fourth Chuck 70 collaboration and he hasn’t disappointed in either.
Yeezy taupe blue desert boot
These sneakers were released in March 2021. This is the first appearance of the Yeezy desert boot in two years. The features of the sneakers include brown suede and a bit of leather, the midsole and outsole are both covered in bright blue. The colour combination was brilliant, and very rare, which is exactly what caught the attention of most sneaker heads.
Bad Bunny x Adidas Forum Buckle Low
These shoes were released in March, 2021. This is a collaboration between the Puerto Rican star and Adidas. The sneakers are in different shades of brown. Bad Bunny is idolized by a whole lot of people, and that increases the sales of his merchandise. Adidas made a great move by collaborating with the Bad Bunny as it is paying off well.
New Balance x Aimé Leon Dore 550 sneakers
Released in April 2021, Aimé Leon Dore is a fashion brand based in New York and it is headed by Teddy Santis. This isn’t the first time Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance have worked together, Aimé Leon Dore has helped New Balance in re-releasing the 550’s which are a late 80’s basketball silhouette. This year they produced more 550 colourways. The sneaker features white leather, the New Balance logo on the back right heel, the outsole is cream white and navy. The Aimé Leon Dore logo is seen on the back left heel. Whilst some might not even think of a New Balance shoe a top 10 sneakers list, we definitely think it is worth having it on this list.
Nike Air Max 90 “Bacon”
These were first debuted in 2004, a collaboration between Nike and New York City boutique Dave’s quality meat. They were re-released March 2021. The colourways are different shades of bacon. This sneaker has never be re-released until now, which is why it had such a huge hype when the announcement for the re-release was made. “Underlining just how important this re-release is to sneaker culture, sneaker retailers are competing on social media for the meatiest (literally) product shots of the shoe,” stated Jonathan Sawyer from Sneakers.
Travis Scott x Air Jordan 6
These were released April 2021. Travis Scott debuted his first Air Jordan in 2019, and has been silent until he released the Air Jordan 6 this year. These sneakers feature a beige suede, they are ankle length sneakers with cream white and beige outsole. The material is made from British Khakhi suede and this time the Air Jordan 6’s have two stash pockets, one has a zip. The make of the sneaker is still very similar to the past Travis Scott collaborations, only a few details differ. These sneakers did very well in the market, Travis Scott fans were pleased. That wraps up our top 10 best sneakers for 2021, so far.
